SEE HOW BERÖRA WORKS

See how BERÖRA worksWith the release of the lastest iPad and the necessity of touchscreen technology in freezing temps — IKEA with the support of agency SMFB developed a new product BERÖRA (Swedish for “touch”).

The BERÖRA is a “sewing kit with a special conductive thread to sew into a glove or mitten, along with a needle and IKEA-style instructions.”

This simple kit helps you to transform your favorite gloves and mittens into techie mits — this clip shows a simple “X” sewed into the index finger allows for you to stay connected on the slopes without freezing your digits or having to wear silly tech gloves.

The campaign by IKEA and SMFB was centered around the release of the IKEA iPad catalogue app in Norway. Originally 12,000 kits were made to promote this launch and sold out in just two weeks. It is unclear when and if the BERÖRA will be available worlwide and at what pricepoint.

Although there are various sites and online tutorials to help you find conductive thread and make your gloves touchable, try instructables. Also a blogger is selling $5 samples via paypal.
