FOOD TRUCKS PARKED ON LUXE HOTEL GROUNDS

Food trucks parked on luxe hotel groundsLuxury hotels, the likes of Ritz-Carlton, Auberge Saint-Antoine, Setai Hotel, and the SLS Hotel, have decided to park food trucks on their premises to promote gourmet fast food by their top chefs.

The blog PSFK overs a round-up explaining the hotels want to draw in hungry guests and visitors that prefer their Michelin-starred bites in a more relaxed atmosphere. Perhaps guests want a change of scenery or a less relaxed setting that room service generally offers.

In addition to the food trucks lining the streets of New York and other foodie cities, you can now check-in and check out these luxe hotel-based food trucks:

– Celebrity chef Jose Andres has a food truck by the pool at The SLS Hotel in South Beach, Miami.
– The Setai Hotel in Miami’s South Beach opened a Beach Kiosk that serves Wagyu hot dogs, and salmon burgers designed by Michelin-starred chef David Werly
– Ritz-Carlton Washington DC has a pop-up BBQ restaurant from April 27-June 29 with a menu created by renowned chef Eric Ripert
– The Auberge Saint-Antoine in Quebec City has planned to open a second food truck by its restaurant’s chef in June. The first Panache Mobile operates at the nearby Vignoble de Sainte-Pétronille vineyard. The second will be on the riverfront at the St. Lawrence River. What to try: lobster rolls, tartare and focaccia sandwiches — all made with ingredients from a garden the hotel operates at a nearby island.

If you don’t have any travel plans or your hotel hasn’t taken the food truck fad, take a look at Zagat’s beta site for food trucks. It currently only covers NYC but the regular Zagat sites have included food truck lists for selected cities, including Bay Area and LA.
